Farella Braun + Martel LLP »
Founded in 1962, Farella Braun + Martel is one of San Francisco's oldest law firms. The firm represents clients in high-stakes commercial, civil and criminal litigation, and is also considered the premier law firm in California for wine industry work.
Problem
Farella Braun + Martel needed to update the design of its website to reflect its offline brand and identity. The firm also needed the ability to make site content changes and updates internally to keep stakeholders informed of industry and firm-related news.
Solutions
- Content Management: Duo designed an administrative interface that allows documents to be added and related to other items with a few clicks of the mouse, allowing updates to be made internally with minimal effort and training.
- Design: Duo translated the Farella brand to the web, creating a clean, crisp image that aligned with the recently produced print materials.
- Relational Database: Duo created a central repository for industry-specific information and firm materials, which allowed relationships to be assigned between them based on date, practice area and attorney. Linked topics and items dynamically appear down the side of each web page, anticipating visitor needs and simplifying navigation.
- Information Architecture: Duo worked with Farella to understand the best way to categorize and present the information associated with over 100 practicing attorneys in a variety of industries. After conducting a complete site audit, Duo established an information structure that made it easy for visitors to find what they needed.
- Copy Writing: Duo updated and streamlined site content, tailoring copy for various stakeholders and re-packaging in-depth information into news articles that can be downloaded.
Results
- The Farella website now reflects the printed collateral, creating a unified brand image across all media
- Site content can be updated internally on a regular basis
- Visitors can quickly find the industry, attorney and legislation information they need
- A central database of firm-related information
