Approaching her ninth year with Duo Consulting, Kelly has been designing and programming for the Web since 1993. From her beginnings in the University of Virginia library’s e-text center, she has created a body of work that ranges from legal websites to non-profits to full-fledged e-commerce businesses. A certified ColdFusion developer with expertise in content management systems and Fusebox methodology, she works to architect the type of system best suited to a business’ specific needs.

These days, Kelly tends to operate closer to the programming edges of projects, though she enjoys opportunities become more directly involved. Throughout her time at Duo, she has focused on creating robust, reusable code and evaluating effective content management systems, even as tools and languages change. She believes that although standards and best practices continue to serve a necessary purpose, they are always worth re-examining. Kelly believes that the importance of leveraging information will only increase, and that through further CMS package implementation and Web 2.0 data aggregation, Duo will continue to strengthen its value in this sphere.

Kelly holds an MFA in English from the University of Virginia. She is an active member of CMPros. Outside of Duo, Kelly maintains her alter ego, a suburban housewife and mother of two children. The self-described straight man of the family, she spends her time fielding questions about comic books, with varying degrees of success. When she can, she enjoys exploring Chicago’s many restaurants with her husband.
