A seasoned systems engineer and software development manager, Fred brings to Duo over 16 years of experience in the design, implementation, and management of Information Technology solutions.

Fred holds a B.A. in Biology with Honors from Skidmore College and an M.S. in Neurobiology and Physiology from Northwestern University, where he was on a University Fellowship, and completed PhD work in the study of sleep and circadian rhythms. During this program, he developed digital software and hardware that could record data, eliminating the need for manual notation: this was often accomplished through a series of increasingly surreal experiments involving light pulses, night-vision goggles and more than a few hamsters. From there, he moved to the field of software development, beginning with database publishing work and eventually finding his way to Duo. He has created applications for a range of specialized needs in the public and private sectors, and is experienced in data modeling, database design, implementation and tuning, programming, networking and managing computer operations.

Fred is a member of the Web Analytics Association and CMPros, and is currently obtaining his M.S. in Information Technology at Northwestern University. He enjoys spending his rare free time with his family, and finding understanding in the wonderfully bizarre classic comic strip Zippy the Pinhead. Yow!
